Welcome, to Mom’s Balanced Life, my goal here is to chat about life, health, wellness and momhood. My name is Heather and I would like to warmly welcome you to my blog!
I am a certified Health Coach who has been “retired” from competitive swimming and water polo, and when I say competitive I mean high school and not at all on the same level as the amazing Olympians we have seen (although I wish!). I am a step mom to a very active tween boy, a mom to a delightfully (albeit difficult sometimes) independent toddler boy and the mom to a special angel baby boy in heaven; I have so much love for all my boys and they will be large character players in my posts here. So if you are an angel momma, step momma, or just a momma (or dads 🙂 ) I have it all here!
My house is rowdy and crowded but it’s awesome on so many levels. Parent’s get stressed out and we struggle some days, believe me I won’t sugar coat it here. Being a step parent is hard, being a parent is hard and someday’s just being human is hard, but that’s why we have support systems. This is what I want to create, a sort of virtual support system. A place where it’s non judgmental, honest (sometimes brutally) but NEVER rude and full of all the feels of being a person on this floating rock in space.
Too many times social and traditional media has tricked us into thinking that balance is easy and just sort of happens. Perfection and effortlessness are the thrown in our faces on a constant basis, even though it’s all a facade . It’s easy to constantly compare our lives to friends, family and the strangers we follow on various websites, apps etc. Life is anything but easy, but finding YOUR place in this world and finding your balance can help ease some of that distress that can come with the thought of “why don’t I have it all?” Being balanced in life isn’t about obtaining perfection; it’s about your OWN zen and following your heart.
AND If you want to have it all, your version of “it all” then chase like hell after it and work your butt off to get it; here I won’t define having it all, because having it all should mean different things to different people. It’s what makes being human great there is a uniqueness that should be embraced! So let’s take this journey of life, with its ups and downs, crazy twists and turns.
So, as it says in the “Sunscreen” song from Mr. Baz Luhrman “If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it. The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by scientists, whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meandering experience… I will dispense this advice now.”
Welcome Mom’s Balanced Life, I look forward to sharing this human journey together.
